Introduction
What ABS Elevate is, who uses it, and how this documentation is organised.
ABS Elevate is the learning platform of Africa Business School. It is where the school's programs are published, where learners choose and follow their courses, and where the people who run those programs do their work.
This site is its user manual. It is written for the two groups who use ABS Elevate every day, and it assumes no prior knowledge of the platform.
Who uses ABS Elevate
Learners use it to see the programs they belong to, browse the catalog, register for courses during a registration window, follow those courses once they start, sit exams, hand in assignments, read their grades and talk to their cohort.
Program administrators — program officers, academic staff and the teams around them — use it to publish programs, build catalogs, open registration windows, decide who gets a place on which course, create classes, schedule lectures, keep gradebooks, issue transcripts and manage people and fees.
Both groups sign in at the same address and see a different platform once they are in. What you can do is decided by your role, not by where you go. Roles and access explains how that works.
The two halves of the platform
ABS Elevate has a learner side and an administration side.
The learner side is organised around what you are doing: My Programs, My Courses, the catalog of a cohort you belong to, your wishlist, your communities and your grades. It shows you your own cohorts, and only while they are running.
The administration side is organised around what you are managing: programs and their cohorts, catalogs and offerings, registration windows and their planning, classes and lectures, admissions, people, gradebooks, fees and settings.
Most of the vocabulary is shared between the two. A registration window means the same thing to a learner waiting for it to open as it does to the program officer who opened it — they simply see different screens.
How to read this documentation

A note on language
This documentation exists in English and French, and you can switch between them at any time. Where an article quotes something the platform says on screen, the quote is taken from the platform itself in that language — so the words in this manual are the words you will actually read in ABS Elevate.
The most visible exception is the sign-in page, which is shown in English whichever language you use afterwards. It is not the only one: a number of tabs, buttons and dialogs inside the platform were never translated either, and they stay in English whichever language you are reading. Each article names them where they appear, rather than listing them here — Signing in for the sign-in page, and the learner articles for the screens that carry the others.
